Professor Trevor Lithgow leads a research group in the Biosciences Precinct at Monash University. The group includes postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students from many countries. Professor Lithgow is an ARC Laureate Fellow in the Department of Microbiology.
The Lithgow lab has expertise in molecular biology, cellular biology, microbiology and bioinformatics. Current research projects in cellular microbiology include the discovery of new protein transport machines in bacteria, understanding the assembly and distribution of protein transport machines, and understanding the permeability properties of the outer membrane to antibiotics.
